Reacting to Switzerland's remarks on press and minorities in India at UN, Indian diplomat Kshitij Tyagi told Switzerland that it should focus on tackling its own challenges such as "racism, systematic discrimination and xenophobia". He called Switzerland's remarks "shallow and ill-informed". Switzerland had asked Centre to take steps to protect minorities and freedom of media.
