Amid demands from Congress and other parties to release post-5 pm CCTV footage from polling booths in the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections, Election Commission (EC) officials stated that such a move violates the privacy and security of voters. They said sharing the footage would enable easy identification of the electors, which could lead to their intimidation by the political parties.
