The new banknotes of Bangladesh have replaced Founder Mujibur Rahman's portrait with images of Hindu and Buddhist temples and historical sites. Mujibur led Bangladesh during the uprising against Pakistan, and his daughter, Sheikh Hasina, governed Bangladesh for several years before being ousted in 2024. On Sunday, notes for three denominations out of the nine were released.
