District Court of Shimla upheld the municipal commissioner’s order declaring the Sanjauli Mosque unauthorised and ordered the demolition of the entire five-storey structure. This put an end to a 16-year-old legal battle. Waqf board had challenged the earlier order, saying that only parts of mosque were disputed. However, the district court ruled that even the lower two floors are illegal.
