Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla conducted experiments on microalgae and cyanobacteria aboard the ISS to explore sustainable life support systems in space. The government informed Parliament that these organisms could recycle CO2 and nitrogen, aiding future missions. Shukla work supports India Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission planned for 2027.
