A controversy erupted after Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah announced that the government will consider renaming Bengaluru's Shivajinagar metro station after St Mary. Speaking at the feast held at St Mary’s Basilica, the 77-year-old also promised funding support for the Basilica's renovation. "I'm formally proposing to name the metro station as Shivajinagar St Mary," Shivajinagar MLA Rizwan Arshad said.
