A single gene therapy injection successfully reversed congenital deafness in 10 adults and children within weeks, according to researchers from Sweden's Karolinska Institutet. Participants had genetic form of deafness caused by mutations in OTOF gene. Researchers used a virus to deliver a healthy copy of the OTOF gene into the inner ear. A seven-year-old participant nearly regained full hearing.
