A review of over 79 global studies has revealed that sleeping more than nine hours increases a person's mortality risk by 34% while sleeping less than seven hours increases the risk by 14%. "Sex-specific analyses indicated that both short and long sleep durations significantly elevated mortality risk...although the effect was more pronounced for long sleep duration in women," it added.
