Jamie Smith scored a counter-attacking 80-ball century on day three of the Edgbaston Test against India, falling just short of the England record for the fastest century in the format. Smith's hundred is the joint-third-fastest from his country alongside Harry Brook (v Pakistan, 2022). Gilbert Jessop's 76-ball blitz in the 1902 Ashes remains the quickest Test ton by an Englishman.
