Scientists have found that snakes and other reptiles turn their urine into tiny crystals. These spheres between 1 and 10 micrometres, seen in pythons and boas, are made of uric acid and water, which convert toxic ammonia into a safer solid form. Researchers say understanding this process could help develop new treatments for gout and kidney stones in humans.
