Multiple countries, including Lithuania and Latvia, may not attend COP30 summit in Brazil's Belem in November as hotel prices crossed $500/person/night. COP30 organisers are racing to convert love motels and churches into lodgings for 45,000 delegates as Belem has 18,000 hotel beds. Brazil chose Belem hoping its location would focus attention on climate change's threats to Amazon rainforest.
