South Africa have left out former captain Dane van Niekerk from their squad for the 2025 Women's World Cup. Van Niekerk had retired in 2023, but reversed it on August 25, 2025. Head coach Mandla Mashimbyi had made it clear that she was not part of their tournament plans. 17-year-old Karabo Meso is one of five World Cup debutants selected.
