RBI has announced a premature redemption price of ₹12,476 per unit for the Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2020-21 Series-VIII, issued on November 18, 2020. The figure is roughly 140% higher than the issue price of ₹5,177 per gram. The redemption price is based on the simple average of the closing prices of 999-purity gold of the previous three business days.
