short by Swati Dubey / on 27 Sep 2025,Saturday
The James Webb Space Telescope has captured images of Sagittarius B2, Milky Way's largest and most active star-forming region. Spanning 150 light-years, this vast molecular gas cloud holds enough material to create 3 million stars the size of Sun. Despite containing just 10% of gas near Milky Way's core, it produces half of all the new stars in the region.
