Spaceflight accelerates the ageing of blood-forming stem cells crucial for blood and immune system health, a study stated. Samples sent on four SpaceX missions between 2021 and 2023 displayed reduced capacity to generate healthy cells, alongside DNA damage, as compared to samples kept on Earth by the same donors. This could be due to microgravity conditions and increased radiation exposure.
