Scientists at UC Irvine found that a specific fatty acid may reverse age-related vision decline. Targeting the ELOVL2 gene, which produces eye-essential VLC-PUFAs, injections in older mice improved eyesight, while DHA alone did not. The study also links ELOVL2 variations to higher AMD risk. Early research hints this approach could protect eyesight and slow immune system ageing in humans.
