Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, after touring impacted areas in North Bengal, acknowledged gravity of situation. “Providing immediate relief is priority right now,” he stated. “We are taking a stock of situation. A lot of damage happened, and many people lost their lives in floods and landslides. We are doing assessment. State and central government will have to make joint efforts," he added.
