Scientists have discovered a new species of stick insect in the forests of Far North Queensland in Australia, according to a study published in the journal Zootaxa. The newly identified species weighs 44 grams, about the same as a golf ball, and measures 40 cm in length. Notably, the giant stick insect has been named Acrophylla alta.
