A study published in The Lancet Regional Health Southeast Asia journal has drawn attention to the rise in C-section deliveries. Caesarean deliveries in India rose from 8.5% in 2005 to 21.5% in 2021, which is above the WHO-recommended levels. Calling for more regulation in private healthcare, researchers said that an avoidable caesarean delivery can be financially stressful for families.
