A study at Index Medical College, Indore, found that 36% of 400 surveyed medical students currently use alcohol, tobacco, or other substances, while 44% have tried them at least once. Substance use was highest among interns (93%) and postgraduates (84%), driven by stress, peer pressure, and curiosity, affecting health and academics.
