A supermassive black hole located 1.2 billion light-years away was seen consuming matter at a rapid rate and later 'burping'. The blackhole pushed the excess matter it couldn't handle, heating surrounding material to several million degrees. The radiation pressure generated pushed excess matter away from the central region of black hole, creating a phenomenon described by astronomers as "burping".
