Scientists at Rice University and University of Houston created a supermaterial by guiding bacteria to grow cellulose in aligned patterns. The resulting biopolymer sheets are as strong as some metals and glasses, and outperform them by being transparent, foldable & eco-friendly. They can carry heat, integrate advanced nanomaterials and are capable of transforming packaging, scientists said.
