Tamil Nadu Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin reportedly referred to Sanskrit as a "dead language" and claimed that the Centre allocated more funds to Sanskrit than to Tamil over the past ten years. BJP leader and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan called Stalin's comments "highly condemnable". She said that he was targeting a language "used in all our prayers".
