Amid protests, Tanzania's first female President Samia Suluhu Hassan won a landslide election victory, securing 97.66% of the votes and another term in office. The opposition Chadema party, barred from taking part in poll, said nearly 700 people have been killed by security forces since protests broke out on poll day. The government dismissed Opposition's death toll as "hugely exaggerated".
