Communal clashes erupted in West Bengal's Maheshtala allegedly after a temple was vandalised when a person was stopped from encroaching the temple land and setting up a shop. The clashes also led to miscreants pelting stones and damaging vehicles. West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar reacted to the incident, blaming the state government for Muslim appeasement.
