One sting from a textile cone snail (Conus textile) could lead to numbness, muscle paralysis, or respiratory failure, and even cause a human heart to stop. Scientists from the University of Utah and the Smithsonian have spent years studying the venom of this deadly snail, found in warm ocean waters, especially around coral reefs in tropical and subtropical zones.
