The beloved board game Snakes and Ladders originated in ancient India and was known as Moksha Patamu or Mokshapat. Originally a morality game, it conveyed the Hindu and Jain philosophies of karma and moksha. Ladders symbolised going up or growing in life because of good deeds, while snakes meant facing the bad outcomes of your actions.
