RR Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara recalled his first impression of Vaibhav Suryavanshi after the latter was signed. He said Suryavanshi was facing Jofra Archer in the nets, adding, "The sound off his bat was like a gunshot every single time he contacted the ball." Sangakkara remarked that Suryavanshi possesses all the shots that one wants in a T20 batter.
