South Korea's impeached president Yoon Suk Yeol defended his decision to declare martial law last year by stating that the country was facing an "existential crisis". Speaking on the final day of impeachment hearings in the court, he said that the decision was never made for his "personal benefit". He also accused external forces of seriously threatening country's national security.
