Amid reports of his divorce from wife Sunita Ahuja, Govinda's niece Arti Singh said, "This is false news." Arti said the reports are "just speculations", adding, "Their (Govinda and Sunita's) bond is so strong. They have built a strong and loving relationship over the years so how can they get divorced?" Govinda and Sunita have been married for 37 years.
