After India captain Shubman Gill scored a hundred in the first Test against England, ex-India batter Sanjay Manjrekar said he was against Gill's appointment as Test captain. "I thought Jasprit Bumrah [was] the better choice and logical choice...without really thinking too much about the future," he stated. Manjrekar added, "But was Gill going to be a failure as captain?
