While addressing people in West Bengal's Alipurduar, PM Narendra Modi said, "TMC corporator marked houses to be torched during Murshidabad violence while police stood there like mere spectators." A report by the probe committee constituted by Calcutta High Court found involvement of TMC councillor Mehboob Alam in the violence, in which several houses and shops of Hindu community were targeted.
