Mallojula Venugopal Rao, alias Bhupathi alias Sonu, surrendered at Gadchiroli by handing over his gun to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis. A key member of the banned CPI (Maoist)'s Politburo, Rao carried a bounty of ₹6 crore, and he laid down arms with 60 other cadres. "I will now be part of movements working for the oppressed in India," he said.
