Railways have approached Bombay High Court's Nagpur bench to recover funds deposited after discovering that 100-year-old tree in Yavatmal, once valued at ₹1 crore as red sandalwood in official records, is now worth only ₹10,981. Tree was part of compensation for 2.29 hectares of Keshav Shinde’s farmland acquired for railway project. Scientific tests showed tree was Bijasal, not red sandalwood.
