National Commission for Scheduled Tribes member Asha Lakra said tribal communities in Great Nicobar are not opposed to development but lack sufficient information about infrastructure projects for the island. "They want employment and…financial situation to improve," Lakra said. A proposed project, involving construction of transshipment port on the island, needs a stakeholders' meeting, she said.
