After Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the country, Trinidad and Tobago said that it would extend full support to India for a permanent membership of United Nations Security Council for the period 2028-29. It was also agreed that India would support Trinidad and Tobago's candidature for a non-permanent seat on UNSC for the period 2027-28, as per a joint statement.
