Tropical Storm Wipha made landfall in northern Vietnam on Tuesday morning. The storm brought winds of 64-102 kmph, and gusts up to 138 kmph, according to local weather officials. Later, it began moving southwest. It was classified as a typhoon on Monday while over open water, but weakened overnight and was downgraded to a tropical storm before making landfall.
