US President Donald Trump's administration has proposed new rules to restrict duration of visas for international students. The rule would allow for foreign students to stay up to the duration of the programme they are participating in, not to exceed a 4-year period. Since 1978, foreign students could stay in US as long as they were enrolled as full-time students.
