US President Donald Trump imposed a 50% tariff on Brazil. In a letter to the Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, he criticised the treatment of Lula's predecessor Jair Bolsonaro, adding that the trial "should not be taking place". In response, Lula said, "Brazil is a sovereign nation with independent institutions and will not accept any form of tutelage."
