US President Donald Trump has on Thursday deployed an additional 500 National Guard troops to Washington DC after two National Guard soldiers were shot near the White House. The suspected shooter, an Afghan man, was also shot after the attack. Trump had ordered the deployment of 2,000 troops in August after taking over federal control of the city's police force.
