The US is planning to shut down two NASA missions that monitor CO2 emissions, including a free-flying satellite and a high-precision instrument attached to ISS. President Trump's proposed budget for 2026 allocates no funding for the Orbiting Carbon Observatory program. NASA will, however, accept outside proposals through August 29 in a last-ditch effort to keep the instrument operational.
