A senior US State Department official said the US government led by President Donald Trump has no interest in "asserting" itself between India and Pakistan on Kashmir. US will continue its policy that Kashmir is a "direct issue" between India and Pakistan, the official said. India had earlier rejected Trump's offer to mediate on the issue.
