US President Donald Trump said he'd impose a 100% tariff on computer chips. He added the tariff rate would apply to all chips and semiconductors coming into the US but wouldn't apply to companies that have made a commitment to manufacture in the US. The US last year produced about 12% of semiconductor chips globally, down from 40% in 1990.
