US President Donald Trump's draft 'one big beautiful bill' has reduced tax on money sent by US residents to their home country from 5% to 1%. The tax would start applying to remittances made after December 31, 2025, as per the draft. The proposed changes have also exempted transfers from US bank accounts, debit and credit cards from the tax.
