Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said US President Donald Trump's tariffs are hurting India, adding, "1.35 lakh people in Surat have been laid off in gems and jewellery business." He said the seafood and manufacturing sectors are also facing heavy losses. "The extra (25%) levy is not a tariff, it is sanctions for buying Russian oil and that's unfair," he added.
