After meeting China's President Xi Jinping, US President Donald Trump said that Taiwan issue never came up during their talks. While China views self-ruled Taiwan as its own territory, Taiwan's government rejects Beijing's sovereignty claims. Over time, Taiwan has enjoyed unofficial support from US.
