Taiwan has ordered the evacuation of hundreds of citizens ahead of Typhoon Podul's expected landfall near Taitung on Wednesday. The mid-strength storm, with gusts up to 155 kph, is intensifying as it approaches the southeastern coast. Meanwhile, in Hualien, nearly 700 residents will be moved due to risk of flooding from a natural dam created by a previous typhoon-triggered landslide.
