UK is set to impose tougher rules for migrants who seek to settle permanently in the country, including higher English language requirements, reports said. At the Labour Party conference, Interior Minister Shabana Mahmood is expected to announce that people applying for indefinite leave to remain (ILR) must demonstrate that they pay social security contributions and have a clean criminal record.
