A Saudi doctoral student at UK's Leeds University has been freed after seeing her 34-year sentence in Saudi Arabia for her posts on X (formerly Twitter) drastically reduced. The student, Salma al-Shehab, a mother of two children, was sentenced to prison in 2022 over her tweets in support of women's rights. Al-Shehab was detained during her family vacation in 2021.
