Russian President Vladimir Putin said Ukraine deserves a better destiny instead of being a tool in the hands of "third parties working against Russia". "[These parties] aren't fighting to end the conflict but using Ukraine for public goals," he added. Putin sees Ukraine's refusal to join alliances and to possess nuclear weapons as basis for long-term stability in the region.
